Evolute - Studio Photoshoot 2
Evolute is an upcoming e-commerce brand that specilises in modest gymwear. They contacted me to provide photos of their products for their website after previous photo work of their items that had been proven to generate sales for their online brand.
Emergence Dance Tour 2
My work with Emergence Touring Productions. This venue had dimmer lighting than the previous one I had shot Emergance dancers in. Shooting low light is a challenge I take in my stride.
I am very excited to show off my ability with these images.
At Home Product Photography
A small showcase of what I can achieve with minimal set up. One light - a bit of bounce and a backdrop.
The first image of the glasses required some basic photoshop to remove what was holding it in the upright position.
Working with reflective materials requires expertise and experimentaiton in order to avoid ugly reflections or distracting glare.
I would be very comfortable shooting any small - mid sized product and find the process of shooting different items enjoyable due to the challenge each different product poses!
Evolute - Studio Photoshoot 1
Here I worked with seven different models in a studio environment, capturing a variety of poses, scenarios and ofcourse clothes.
The images provided here are just a small sample of the vast number of pictures I delivered. Evolute expressed great satisfaction with the photos and I am excited to work with them again in the future.
Manchester
A small sample of the street photography I have done in Manchester. I have really fallen in love with this city!
Emergence Dance Tour 1
Here's a glimpse of my latest photography work for "Emergence" and their dance tour, capturing the energy and artistry of their performances was an incredible experience!
Birds of Prey
These shots were gain achieved with just used my camera's kit lens, an 18-55 mm zoom. These birds provided a different challenge than the butterflies. They were at distance and moved incredibly fast. A fast shutterspeed and quick, steady movements with the camera proved helpful. You can see in some of the images that the background experienced motion blur whilst the bird didnt. This is because I managed to track the birds in my viewfinder as I took the shot.
Again as you can likely tell from the presence of a handler in these photos, I did not find these birds in the wild. I had this amazing photography opportunity at Warwick castle bird show. I am very proud of these shots! A lot turned out well. A lot of shots I got that day did not look good but I was capturing as much as possible to ensure I would have a selction of good looking shots and I think I defintely delivered
I later touched up these photos in adobe lightroom, grading, adjsusting exposure and colour. The first slide of the barn owl is one of the shots I'm most proud of. Even so in the original photo, a spectator's head was visible at the bottom. I managed to edit this out to create more focus on the spectacular bird, giving it the space in the frame it deserves.
Emergence Dance Tour 3
My latest work with Emergence Touring Productions. I am so grateful for Emergance for choosing me time and time again!
I was tasked with focusing on video on this occasion however I still took pictures inbetween shooting video.
Once again low light proves tricky, but we embrace the grain!
Graffiti Photoshoot
Here is a selection of photos from a commission I did. As photographer, I needed to take a variety of creative photos for the client that showed off the models outfits and makeup. I also needed photos that were specificallly designed to show off the fans and socks that the models would be holding and wearing.
I used a 50mm lens to occasionally get a nice shallow depth of field, making the models stand out compared to the background. I still made sure to get photos with the graffiti in focus, the client desiring this.
UOS Basketball
Here is a selection of photos from being sports photographer for the University of Salford basketball team. This was as part of a group production documenting the event, filming it, conducting interviews and ofcourse photographing.
I shot with a tight 70mm-200mm zoom lense to be able to get pictures that felt close and personal, right in the action. I under exposed in the camera, bringing it back up in the edit. This was to keep in line with the grainy style the social media manager wanted.
Look through the slides for more photos!
Contemporary Dance Festival
Here's a glimpse of the photos I took for the university's contemporary dance festival, featuring students from the BA Dance course. I was the sole photographer for this event, capturing moments during the actual performance on the day, shooting from above the crowd. The festival organizers were happy with the results, and it turned out to be a valuable learning experience for me, improving my work in low light conditions.
Evolute - Gym Photoshoot
Evolute is an upcoming e-commerce brand that specilises in modest gymwear for muslim women. Whilst they aim to target this niche, they also desire to not exlude potential customers from other demographics.
The purpose of this photoshoot was to display their new relaxed t shirts in the contextual environment of they gym. By displaying these on a variety of men, Evolute wanted to present the message that this brand is not just for women and not just for muslims!
I played around with flash and lens filters to try to give the client a variety of different effects on the photos, delivering what they were looking for based on their references. Honestly can't wait to work with them again, such a lovely group of people. Love what they're doing over there.
UOS Cheer
Here is a selection of photos from when I photographer a UOS cheerleading event
I shot with a variety of lenses including a 35mm, a 50mm and a tight 70mm-200mm zoom lens. This allowed for a range of shots at a range of distances and sizes to capture as much as the action as possible, moments both big and small.
Check out the slides for more photos!
Me with my DSLR and 70mm-200mm zoom lens.
Butterflies
These shots were achieved without a macro lens. I just used my camera's kit lens, an 18-55 mm zoom. A lot of difficulty comes with photographing any animal but especially when it comes to these butterflies. They move very unpredictably, having brief moments of rest where you try to get the perfect shot before they move off againn.
Make no mistake, I am no jungle explorer going out to find these in their natural habitats. These where shot at a butterfly farm in the UK. It was a great opportunity to practice a very quick workflow, the butterflies definitely did not care whether I had got my settings right and got the shot before they moved.
I later touched up these photos in adobe lightroom, slightly bringing out the natural hues to create the vibrant stunning look these immages posses.
Salford Film Festival Event
I was comissioned as Event photographer for Salford Film Festival 2024. I was going anyway as a film I was cinematographer on (Violet Nights) was screening at the event however the organisers reached out to me asking me to do the photography, something I could not decline.
I believe I successfully got a wide range of photos from both the Q and As and intermissions. The event organsisers were more than happy with how the photos turned out.
UOS Dance Society Performances
Here is a small sample of photos I took for the UOS Dance Societes' dance shows over multiple years. I was the sole photographer for these events, able to take these photos during rehearsals.
This shoot really was a challenge for me. The lighting varied drastically during the performances and I was often shooting in low light conditions (not ideal when you have a crop sensored camera). The society was pleased with the results and it has proven to be a useful learning experience!
Nature Themed Makeup Photoshoot
Here is a selection of photos from a commission I did. This time, the shoot was just to show of the makeup looks of the models. I again used a 50mm lens to get some nice shallow focus portraits.
I also did some landscapes for variety and to capture some of the location that fit the nature theme. Landscape also worked better for including two models at once with the tree as the client requested.
Amsterdam
A small sample of the street photography I did in Amsterdam. I tried to make creative compositions and capture the aesthetics of the city. However my gain goal was just to have fun.
"Here In Our Town" film BTS
I was comissioned as BTS photographer to capture the production of this short film. I aimed to capture a range of photos that the crew could use to advertise themselves, advertise the film and showcase both the fun and serious sides of filmmaking.
I delivered 554 edited photos to the crew and provided the raw images they wished to use for marketing purposes when making a poster for their film.
I am very happy with my performance on this capturing some stunning photos and achieving what the client wanted. I only wish I could photography my own short films productions like this!
Frankie the Cat
When I'm all out of projects, people, subjects and places to photograph, I like to do a shoot with the one model who is always availible: my cat. Meet frankie. He is a great subject to practice my ability. I enjoy giving him beautifully shallow portrait shots with prime telephoto lenses. And on the flipside I enjoy using a very wide lens to get up and close to him.
Frankie has taught me a lot about photographing models in daylight, working in response to a model to capture uncontrollable moments and just having fun with my work.
He is my only client who has not expressed satisfaction with my work!
